With a DNSEP degree from the Metz School of Art (2007) and a Master’s of Fine Art from the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam (2009), the American artist Rachel A. Carey practices drawing, sculpture, writing and video. She is interested in invisible sculptures and in the legends and myths that underlie society. “I find it highly significant that our age, with its obsession to explain everything, is just as obsessed with mystical or inexplicable experiences.” And indeed, both in the surrealist echoes of her drawings and in the protean installations she derives from them, one finds the same intention to express, even enhance, the mysterious dimension of everyday life.
