Benoit Billotte
Sometimes similar to design or staging or even historical or scientific research, Benoît Billotte’s work underlines the structure, mode of operation and physical aspects that give rise to an idea, a value or a behaviour. This study of forms led him to develop games involving page layouts, sketches of systems, and cartographies. Recently, the question of fiction, utopia, and the representations derived from them has emerged in his work.
Based on the artist’s thoughts regarding the arrangement of parks and gardens in our cities, the Parc Thermal de Pougues-les-Eaux was the starting point for a creative study concerning an ideal garden, in close partnership with the Établissement Public Local d’Enseignement et de Formation Professionnelle Agricole Nevers-Cosne-Plagny.
A graduate of the École Supérieure d’Art de Metz and a postgraduate diploma from the Haute École d’Art et de Design de Genêve, Benoit Billotte participated in 2010 in the Triennale de la Jeune Création (Luxembourg), in the collective exhibition “Drawing time / Le temps du dessin” at the Musée des Beaux Arts de Nancy in 2010 or the 52nd Salon de Montrouge in 2007.
