Florence Giroud
Born in 1981 in Lyon. Lives and works in Paris.
Florence Giroud’s practice is a constant back-and-forth shift between sculpture, sound, image, light, and narrative. These are the main ingredients of tableaux that follow no narrative whatsoever, elements of an opera the different chapters of which she has been writing since 2010. In a sort of perpetual recycling of biographical elements and a permanent formal experimentation, her work constructs immersive, emotional spaces, moments suspended in time that suggest forbidden ceremonies. “For me the Parc Saint Léger residency will be a chance to lay out act 4 of the opera, ‘Change,’ organizing the production of sculptures, the writing of texts inspired by the site, and the rehearsal with small groups of musicians, space permitting.”
